I don't think this is particularly exciting in itself, but more of a herald of hopefully further things to come. I think this sort of "modular" capability would be a real boon to consumers (and maybe even producers, selling a 'design' could yield better margins while still costing the consumer less up front) in terms of customization and 'warranty' (it cracked? print another).
