Nokia 6800 -- No Service?

My brother bought an unlocked phone off of eBay, and put his sim card in and turned it on. He can get in just fine, so it must be unlocked as advertised, but he's getting a "No Service" message when trying to call someone.

I know absolutely nothing about cellphones, so I come to you, ATOT! His carrier is Telus, does that matter?

what fre does the 6800 support ? and what does telus use ?

I think Telus uses the 1900 freq... thats wat Bell uses.

It's his phone, and I don't own a cellphone so I don't know what you're talking about. How can I find out?
