i can't take this anymore.. my thermaltake volcano7 fan in my system is driving me nuts with all of its noise. looking in the BIOS, my regular cpu temperature is 41C/105F and system temperature is 37C/98F. the fan speed stays pretty constant at 4600RPMs. the specs for this particular fan says that the range is 2900RPM-5000RPM, which means my machine must be heating up badly!
i've heard this may be due to improper seating of the fan heatsink ontop of the cpu.. if so, is there anyway to fix this?
i'm thinking that it couldn't be due to the airflow through the case, it's an aluminum case with a front fan near the bottom (2) hard drives, and a rear fan right below the power supply.
i opened up the case and the cpu temperature dropped to 38C/100F, but the fan was still doing about 3500RPMs and waking the neighbors! anyone who has any solutions to this noise/heat problem, please help.. thanks in advance!
my (nonoverclocked) system specs:
Dual boot: Win2000, WinXP
Skyhawk Aluminum Case w/ 400W PSU
