I bought an old 12-port 3Com SuperStack II Switch 3000 off a friend a while ago but never used it as the thing is so damn loud.
However, my cheapo SMC switch just died (power surge) so I'm in need of another switch to use in conjunction with my Cisco 2514.
I was just wondering if anyone here had tried running a SuperStack with the fans disconnected (there are three fairly large fans in the side). Will it overheat?
I'd like to use it (it is a nice switch), but if I can't do anything about the noise I'll just have to purchase another cheap POS.
Thanks.
