recently, my Western Digital 36gb Raptor has become very noisy, and as of late, my computer has been crashing.

Do you guys recommend any frewares i can use to run tests on the hard drive?
 
You can download the hard drive diagnostics utilities from western digital, that would be the best way to test the drive. I have used it so I know it works with the raptors.
