I just got an Abit IT7-MAX, the one that's legacy free and has onboard 5.1 audio, and I'm kind of disappointed cause the audio is noisy. Like any processor or video activity makes faint scritchy noises or hisses. Does anyone know if this is common or if there's anything that can be done about it? I kinda hate to have to buy a sound card cause the built-in 5.1 was one reason i bought this motherboard in the first place.

I just wanted to reply because thomsbrain is cool. (hopefully thomsbrain knows who I am) :)

And sorry, I don't know if this is common. But my new Giga-byte 7VRXP has onboard sound too - I haven't tested it though.

yeah, i'm running a g850db motherboard and had that problem. I then realized that a lot of the distortion was because i was using an audio loopback cable from the tv tuner card, and promptly unplugged it. dunno if this helps, but was an interesting story nonetheless :)

not using any cables or anything. but i think the problem in both cases is just interference. i wonder if there's some way to rig up some shielding... anyone tried this?
