Question Noisy GPU fans when playing games - fixes?

I have a MSI Geforce 2080 since early 2019. It had been running quietly until a couple of months ago.
Every time I play a graphics-intensive game such as Farcry or just Xcom 2, the GPU fans will continuously alternate speeding up and speeding down, making a high - low - high - low .. noise.
It remains quiet if I am surfing the web or working.

Since it wasn't like this when I first installed the card, does this mean the GPU fan is now defective? Is there any fix for it, or the warranty will cover it?

Any help will be appreciated.

When was the last time you cleaned out the inside of the case? Often if a computer that was quiet starts to get loud, its because of plugged air intakes, or the fans have too much dust build up on them.

May be worth checking for an updated bios for the card as well.

Yes. I have cleaned the case and blown the dust from the fans. I have also tightened the screws.
Haven't seen a BIOS update but I have kept the video card driver up to date.
