Hi,

I've an ATI X1600 PRO PCIE 512MB card. While I've a great Antec case, this card's screatching sound is unbearable. I cleaned the card, surrounding etc. but no use.

What options do I've ?

VGA Cooling ? If so, what would you recommend me to buy ?

Thanks.

PNY 9600gso $90-$40 = $50 AR (free shipping now)

I got one and tested it and it's darn quiet especially when it's not under load. They've also already notified me that they received my rebate.

If you're going to spend $20-$30 bucks on an after market cooler. Might as well get a better card with a decent cooler for $50 bucks.

If the fan motor is the source of the noise, you could try shooting some WD-40 into the bearings. I've done this to various fans, including case fans, and those on CPU's and vid cards. It works IF the bearings are the problem, and it's safe in that it won't short out the fan motor.

Be careful to avoid leaving residual spray. Mask off the surrounding area with tissue or a rag, and clean up residue on the fan blades with a Q-tip or similar.

No guarantee, but if the fan motor is already shot, you're no worse off for trying. 🙂

WD-40 did the trick, atleast for now... After opening and cleaning it still was making noice,
but after opening the fan case and spraying WD-40, it a lot better now...

Thanks !
