Noisy fan on ATI Radeon 32meg DDR

I have a noisy ATI Radeon fan, and my Voodoo4 fan was much quieter. Is there anything I can use to make the ATI Radeon fan quieter?
 
I heard you can just unplug the fan and it wouldn't affect the card cause it runs really cool.
 
my radeon doesnt even have a fan. so i figure you should be fine with the fan off. then again mine has a much bigger heatsink than a normal with fan radeon
