Noisy cooling stock w/ my AMD A64 3500+

A bit noisy for my taste although it does the job (by keeping the 3500+ cool, 39c idle, 52c load). Any recoomendation for a decent aftermarket kit that doesn't break my checking account?

I just got one at ZZF for $30 shipped (2nd day) although I did try the OP's link but it was so quirky so I decided to go with ZZF. Any one has a link where it shows how to remove the existing stock sink on the AMD a64 processor?

Just lift up the lever and pull it off. Afterwards, clean off the thermal compound on the CPU surface and just throw the Freezer on there.

You mean, pulling off the entire cpu and its stock cooling kit from the socket? Then remove the cpu from the stock cooling fan, once both are completely out of the socket?

Get the Arctic Cooling Alpine 64, it'sonly $14 and is completely silent. It will only take about 7C from stock though.

To help remove the current heatsink from your CPU, leave the CPU locked in the socket and then try gently twisting the heatsink slightly from side to side. Do not pull up on the heatsink while twisting. The twisting can help break the seal between the heatsink and CPU caused by the thermal paste.
It's important to remember to NOT pull up and to twist SLIGHTLY, just "wiggle" it.

😉

It also helps if you run SuperPi right before removing the heatsink, then shut off your computer, get some oven gloves and twist the cooler. The heated thermal compound will be easier to take off.

Got an Artic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro today from ZZF. It took ~15 minutes to uninstall the stock and installed the AC. It cools down at least 5c than the stock fan or 35c idle and 49c load.
Thanks for all the help.
