I have an Inwin S500 case with a 300watt PS that is starting to make noise intermittently. Can I replace the PS fan? Is there anything special about PS fans? Any help appreciated, noise is really buggin me.

Sounds like your fan is going bad. You can replace it by try placing it with a fan that pulled somehwere near the equal CFM of the orginal.
With those powersupplys that are built quiet generaly are built with larger heatsink and produce power cleaner, with less energy wasted to heat.
Im totally not in favor of ppl putting quiet fans as the L1a that pushes a wussy 24cfm, in a PS that had a fan that pushed almost 40cfm. Probably expect voltages spikes, more under and above the operating voltage it should be running at.

My main concern was that the PS fan was designed to be replaced. And if you can replace it what should I look for in a replacement fan (i.e. CFM rating, low noise, etc). I guess I could call Inwin but I think you guys have better real world knowledge.

It can be replaced, any fan above 30cfm is sufficent. Most Inwin PS use 92mm fan, that pulls from the side, if theres just a fan in the back then thats probably 80mm.
