noiseless solution: laptop vs oem desktop vs custom build

My last purchase was a laptop 3 years ago. Biggest reason for the purchase of a laptop was for the noise issue. Now I am back in the market for a new system purchase but wanted more power than a laptop can provide. Does anyone have any recommendations for a bedroom-quiet noiseless PC from a big name system builder? I don't want to build my own as it seems like every time I tried to build a quiet PC it ends up being more noisy than an OEM.

Dells are quiet.

But really, if you buy the right parts and spend some extra cash you can build a quiet system. Mine is pretty quiet. Just get aftermarket coolers for everything and a quiet PSU to begin with, like a Corsair (I have one).

Just about every machine I build is very low noise to near silent. The key is to use passive cooling whenever possible and low RPM fans, and efficiant heatsinks with large surface area that can take advantage of the low CFM. Also keep keep in mind the bigger 92mm 120mm variants can move more air at less RPMs which is a big advantage.
