In a PC, this is almost never the case, especially for front ports. 0V is generally carried from the motherboard out to the front panel, along with the signals. Is the headphone jack properly grounded?
I just tried it with my rig (sig) and I didn't get any noise. Probably boils down to the components. At the end of the day you get what you pay for.In a PC, this is almost never the case, especially for front ports.
Not that they're all noisy; that they're usually not grounded (there's not much reason to ground it, and it could create a loop carrying unwanted DC currents if done, if the audio common off a bit from the case). I suspect the noise is either from sharing the 0V traces on the board with USB 0V, or having those traces really close, allowing for induced noise.I just tried it with my rig (sig) and I didn't get any noise.
