Do you know how much noise (in decibels) does the fan that included in a Athlon 64 3000+
PIB(Processor In Box)?

There is no standard testing methodology in the computer world to measue noise - dB. Because of this, compairing dB numbers between different fans accross manufactuers lines is pure guesswork. Some fans companies, like SilenX, list bogus numbers to suck people in to buy their product. It may be fine to compare within a mfg line - such as comparing a high speed Panaflo to a low speed version, because the testing method is the same.

As far as the origional question goes I can tell you that the fan on my 3200+ is quite a bit noisier than the fan on a Zalman 7000 which replaced it.

Good luck.

I have one. It's not too bad. THe northbridge fan on my asus sli board was much, much louder. I put my hsf's on rheabus anywayz.

It will be louder than you care to hear if you are concerned about noise.

Zalman makes a northbridge cooler that is fanless. I guess they are on the way out 'cause I got on this week for $4.95.

you'll hear it, that's for sure. it spins at a minimum of 3000RPM and can go to 5000RPM on a load. Not overly noisy at 3000RPM, but if you're looking for a silent build, you'd best replace it.

I was surprised that the fan that came with my Newcastle 3400+ is so quiet, especially compared to the Athlon XP fan I had before.

However, it got louder and louder and I will now replace it.
