Noise Cancelling Headphones

You hear about the Bose ones for $300, but I thought I read once that Panasonic or someone made a pair for like half the price and were better. Any info or recommendations?

I can't speak for others but my uncle was just telling me about the Bose. He just purchased a pair because he does a fair amount of flying and he was really happy with how they performed. He said once you put them on it was like you were in your own little world.

I have the Bose headphones as well. They're amazing... Only downside is that you can't hear anything that's going on around you. So if you're playing games or something and someone walks in and taps you on the shoulder, can be pretty scary.

the bose no question. the reviews i've read say the sonys hiss, and well...any that do not enclose your ears are pissing in the wind when it comes to noise canceling.

The best aviation headsets I've ever used were ANR by Bose...they've got it figured out.

when you say noise cancelling headphones you mean it creats generic sound like white noise? Are they completely silent with out playing sound? If not then any set of koss head phones with the foam pad should work...

no, active noise canceling actively cancels out noise😉 white noise would be noise creation😛
it only works really for low frequency mechanical noise.. like engines and such really. high freq noise needs to be blotted out with isolation phones, which is why those cheaper ones just don't work.

IIRC it produces the "inverse" or whatever of everything around you. Don't you need massive amounts of processing to do it correctly, and get rid of everything?

Or am i understanding it all wrong?

It creates the polar opposite of the "sine" that's created from outside noise

Etymotic ER-4P -- the best sounding earphones you will ever listen to, less than 200 dollars new on eBay, and better noise "cancelling" than the Bose rip-offs.
