Hey guys, this seems like a belt to me but, since I am at College I can't do much in the way of inspecting what is wrong.
I have a '95 Toyota Tacoma that runs great. However, starting at 3750RPM (Regardless of whether it is in gear or not) I get a high pitched whining type noise. If I drop below that it immediately stops, but as long as I am in the upper ranges of the Tach it makes the noise.
Since the truck is an I4 I need to be around 3500 and up to get up or accelerate up the mountains surrounding Virginia Tech. Not to mention if I ever need to accelerate in a hurry I don't want the noise.
My first guess was Serpentine Belt, but does anyone else have any ideas? Also does anyone have any ideas on price? Keeping in mind that I'm at College, any chance the suggested repair could be a DIY?
Thanks Guys,
-Kevin
