Recently bought a NH-D14 from the FS/T forum to replace the stock 2500K cooler. Noctua is already mailing me a 1155 mounting bracket for free for my NH-U9B - but I saw the deal and well, I've always wanted an absurdly large heatsink (e-peen). lol

Anyway, I installed the heatsink using the 1155 directions. Noticed temps were actually worse than stock, so I knew the thing couldn't have been contacting the cpu correctly. took off the heatsink, and only two corners of the cpu had been contacting. I went around to each of the 4 nuts that tighten down the mounting bars and made sure each was snug. It was at this point I managed to snap off the top of one of the nuts. Not sure if the backplate was on at a slight angle or what, but it's broken. Emailed Noctua, but it looks like it'd be at least a few weeks before I'd get anything from them...

Anyway, does anyone know if the NH-U9B socket 1155 mounting kit has any of the same hardware as the NH-D14?

The mounting bolts are replaceable. Have you tried to replace the broken with one from the other mounting kit?

Also, make sure the bolts are in the correct part of the slot for the CPU socket you have.

If you can't come to a conclusion call up Noctua, there are countless forum posts of their amazing customer service. They'll probably just send you new mounting brackets/clips/whatever at no charge :)

The AMD mounting kit uses another type of bolt unfortunately.

I was hoping someone with a NH-U9B could tell me if the mounting hardware was the same for them, considering I should be receiving that kit shortly.

I emailed Noctua yesterday, and they have stated that they're sending out a new set of nuts/bolts free of charge. They really do have great customer service.

Well, I got the mounting kit for my NH-U9B and it uses the same hardware. :D

In case anyone was interested, they use the same backplate, mounting bolts/nuts and the same mounting bars.

The AMD kit doesn't use the same bolts.

I had ordered a mounting kit for my other heatsink prior to purchasing the D14. Only the brackets that secure the heatsink to the mounting bars are different between the U9B and D14 Intel mounting kits.

The D14 AMD and Intel mounting screws are entirely different, however. Looks like I'll be receiving an extra mounting kit here shortly.

 I saw that in your other post...but in your original post:

You don't mention AMD at all...:p

(although the NH-D9B fits Intel 775 and AMD)

Noctua's professional SecuFirm™ mounting system for LGA 775, AM2, AM2+ and AM3 ensures superior reliability and contact pressure. K8 (939, 940, 754) kits are available on request.

Anyway...glad you got your parts. I have a Noctua NH-U12P SE2 cooler on my i5-760...and am happy as hell with it.

Another vote for the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 cooler. I'll be using Noctua or Corsair after market coolers from now on. I really like that Noctua's kits come with everything you need.

I want to say they're the same but I can't confirm. I have both BTW.

can't tell from my pics though.

I did take apart my i7 last week and the i5 also, and I swear they were pretty much the same.
