Can the house ( frame ) of Noctua case fans be painted?

right now I got a white/red theme going on inside my case.
Planning to add an extra fan inside and upgrade the exhaust fan on my case. But Im not a big fan of the tan color?
Would the fans need to be taken out? Would this affect the fan?

Im am NOT going to paint the actual fan itself.

Thanks everyone.

*** Are Noctua fans PWM? Or can the RPM only be adjusted with the 3 RPM 3 different connectors given with the fan?

Thanks everyone.

I'm sure you could paint the frame, but be aware that you can't take the hub off of the frame, so you'd need to very thoroughly tape it off. My solution was to not have a window in my case, so I don't have to bother matching things and can sleep in the same room (no bright LEDs).

Noctua sells both PWM and non-PWM fans. I recommend visiting their site and looking at the various models available.

NF-S12A: basic model

NF-P12: high pressure model
SSO2 bearing
2 variants: 3 pin and PWM, both 1300RPM
Comes only in tan

NF-F12: "focused flow" model, uses vanes to direct airflow
SSO2 bearing
Only comes in PWM, 1500RPM
Only comes in tan

NF-F12 Industrial

NF-S12B: Their older model. SPCR actually likes these better than the newer ones with SSO2 bearings, from an acoustics perspective.
SSO(1) bearing
3 variants: PWM (1200RPM, 4 pin), 1200RPM 3 pin, 700RPM 3 pin
Comes only in grey

Noctua fans come with a lot of nice accessories, last a long time (compared with a sleeve bearing fan, for instance), have a great warranty, and are widely available. Their acoustics are good, but there are better fans out there if you're most interested in acoustics. I decided to try them out recently and have been very impressed with everything except their cost.

Consensus over at SPRC is that there are better sounding fans for the price, but I had trouble sourcing them.

Be aware that most fans can become "silent" if you undervolt them.
