it appears there is no love for Barry:

"Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants is very close to breaking Hank Aaron's record of 755 lifetime home runs (with 734). Are you rooting for Barry Bonds to break Hank Aaron's record, or do you hope he will fall short of it?
--Hope he falls short, 48 percent
--Rooting for him to break it, 33 percent
--Don't care, 16 percent
--Not sure, 3 percent"

article by ESPN

the article also goes into how baseball seems to becoming less popular, but the main focus of the article is on Bonds.

so, how does ATOT feel?

I dunno. Although there is substantial evidence that he has used steroids, he was never been tested positively. So as far is it goes right now, he'll legitimately be breaking (if he does) the record. If he tests positive then hes done.

I'd like to see him break it. I don't like the guy nor do I root for him, but to see such a record get broken is a rare and amazing feat.

Read "Game of Shadows." Not testing positive doesn't mean anything. Half the regimine is dedicated to masking the drugs from the tests. Everyone has heard of the clear and the cream. The cream masked the testable effects of the clear.

Bonds is not legitimate. I hope he sticks to his word and retires.

Correct. Baseball can lick my asshole. No love from me since '89.

[edit]
Almost forgot: Bonds can lick the leftovers.

The problem is that some people can't see "guilty" even when it craws up their butt and explodes.

Racism is strong with this one. I don't see nearly as many people bashing big mac, even when he made a fool out of himself in front of congression hearing.

"They should feel fortunate that they'll have the opportunity to see him break probably the most hallowed record in sports," he said.
This is the attitude that especially gets at my nerves. Oh, I feel so blessed I get to live in an era where raging lunatics get to shoot up with countless illegal substances and "impress us" with their feats of greatness... :disgust:

This is the other attitude gets at my nerves - because racism has nothing to do with it, yet somehow it always becomes the topic of conversation... Get a clue instead of getting baked. People don't bash Big Mac as much because (1) he's retired, and (2) he's not breaking the career home run record.

Notice how that has absolutely nothing to do with his skin color.

Even if he does beat the record, there will always be an asterisk by his name.

Hhahahah. YOU are the one with the problem if you think this is a race issue, lol.

Big Mac never got close to Hank Aaron. And now he's retired so there's no chance that he'll ever see that record. Prior to steroids being front page news, he was a sure-fire first ballot hall of famer. Now many agree that he might not get in at all.

What's more, he was roundly criticized for his congressional testimony. Big Mac was every bit the cheat that Bonds is.
