Here's the BBC story.

Does it strike anyone else as highly ironic that a woman who is winning a Nobel prize for her work at gaining rights for women would ignore the fact that the United States freed the Afghan nation, a neighbor of Iran incidentally, from one of the most repressive anti-women regimes in recent memory?

She is on a political pedestal.

15 minutes of fame - Flail away. She can then pressure Iranian gov by also taking a slap at the US.

This woman has worked for human rights (particularly women) her whole life and has been an internationally recognized advocate for nearly two decades. She's a new voice only to the underlings that get their news from CNN (domestic not the International version) or FixNews.

Curiously, the thread originator ignores the wholesale degradation of women in the warlord-ruled nation of Afghanistan . . . out-of-sight . . . out-of-mind. Although the Southern Baptist-esque qualities of the Taliban left much to be desired . . . rape and pillage was certainly less frequent during the previous regime. Furthermore, just like Iraq . . . Afghanistan was not attacked for the sake of liberating the persecuted masses.
