It bears repeating, apparently:

The boat / building was not damaged. The article in the OP:

They really stretched to come up with that headline so it would be viral clickbait.

With that said, Ark Encounter is a fucking ridiculous boondoggle.

See...here's the thing. It doesn't matter if their faux-boat survived, the irony is that a Noah's Ark theme park is suing over rain damage...

Based on it being Kentucky, I'd guess this is more God trying to end abomination of a bunch of half-human half animal creatures due you know, them fucking the animals (they figure that if 3 is a devil's triangle then 2 by 2 is God's way).

I was trying to put a positive spin on it but you're probably right. The problem for them is that God could send his kid back to personally deliver the message and they would probably laugh at him and call ICE to pick him up because he ain't 'murican.

Or white. :D

They'd call him the anti-Christ and then give him the 5th nail with an AR-15.

I'm Christian and would have loved to visit that some day... but damn the irony is quite hilarious. Though you would think commercial insurance would cover acts of God. I always hated the fact that most insurance don't cover that, it kinda defeats the purpose of having insurance, lot of disasters are acts of God.

I guess the key to having flood coverage is to have a flood detection system, and have it catch on fire, then it just gets ruled as an electrical fire. :p
I wouldn't waste my time and money on this, I'd rather spend the $50 per ticket on something else. like maybe a bottle of patron, it'll last a lot longer.

has nothing to do with fundys,,,,,,,,it has to do with stupid people!
when they prefer what the bible says over scientific evidence, that, in my view, makes them categorically stupid.

there is no evidence of a global flood as stated in bible. regional, yes, global, no. it's believed the creation of the black sea was the basis of the flood stories, both in the bible and the gilgamesh flood.

I'll offer some thoughts and prayers. That's supposed to fix anything.

Also, please don't give any money at this abortion of an attraction. Or the creation museum for that matter. My fucking state gave these shit heads a 18 million tax break and then turn around and short change public schools, teachers, and public workers.

So it is educational! :p

Sidenote: I read their rules of conduct. They seem to have covered all their bases for tossing out anyone with a brain and an open mouth. No proselytizing for reason allowed.

Just curious (as an agnostic-atheist myself) why all the random shitting on these folks here?

They want to make a stupid little theme park of their fairy tale, how does it hurt you or I? Let them be, let them read their bedtime stories to make themselves feel better. I know and have plenty of friends that are all about religion, and they use it as more of a... social tool than as a religion (IMHO). Ultimately I don't see the harm in it, though I would never subject myself to such.

I mean the only argument I would accept is on the tax breaks - but I'm in favor of taxing religions as a whole for anything and everything (not just the amusement park building). Tax douchebags like Joel Osteen all you want.

But I just don't get the general "Shit on them" resentment that I see in 80% of the posts here =/

Their message is that it is okay to be willfully ignorant and that message is poison to our society.

Pretty much. I'd have the same issues with George R.R. Martin opening up an "educational" museum claiming that the Kingdom of Men originally fought ice zombies and blonde haired fire immune women rode on dragons and that was what our origins were. Oh and tried to get the state to pay for some of it. Then didn't get it. Then changed his tax status to try and get around it again. Meanwhile the state itself is taking away funding from state schools, failing to pay it's teachers decent wages, and wondering why it's in the bottom half of educational scores in the country. Plus this particular group is a bunch of hucksters promising decent paying wages and not coming through on it. Sticking local communities with tabs that they later got slapped for. And just generally trying to leach away funds for the purpose of religious propaganda.

Wtf are you talking about?

And quit getting so butt hurt. If other people want to believe in fairy tales how does that affect you?
Really? If they only believed in them no one would give a shit. When they use those fairy tales to try and force their beliefs on others through the power of the government then everyone one of them can FRO.

Please, youre a pathetic imbecile, it's no secret. You asked a question he already answered.

And it absolutely affects others, because that's religions policy. Go out and gather more believers, and maybe legislate some morality while you're at it.

If you refuse to see how religion has and is still shaping our world, well...

And LOL at others being butthurt...the american Christian's permanent state of mind...

So seriously, fuck off, idiot.

Edit:
@s0me0nesmind1 : good, youre bored. Maybe you can go door to door trying to convert non-believers to pass the time while enjoying tax exemptions but still heavily involved in political matters. Fucking moron.

And a correction - they were going to get the tax break. That eventually got knocked down. Then they sold a 65 million dollar valued property to another shell entity for $10 and moved it to non-profit to evade more taxes.

Their god doesn't factor here. They are promoting their brand of stupidity as actual science. Go look at their website. By golly, they got microscopes and shit; they're scientists exposing their god's truth. When a group shifts from "We believe" to "We know through science" when they don't, they deserve to be shit on.

Incidentally, if I were offered a free pass, I'd go in a heartbeat. :p

IF.... anyone is to build a re-creation of Noah's Ark it needs to be built where it truly belongs.
IN LAS VEGAS, and as a casino.
Where happy Fundies can lose their money and their souls surrounded by the pleasures of biblical scripture.
Buffet closes at midnight.

Their five insurers are refusing to pay for the damages because they were acts of God. They are suing their insurers for not paying for flood damages due to rain, an act of God.

Seems odd to me. What kind of crappy policy did they purchase?

I live in the South. We get insurance for things such as hurricanes, tropical storms, floods, wind damage and ice and snow storms. These are all "acts of God".

Insurance for property that doesn't include "acts of God", at least how they seem to define it, is mostly useless.
