No, you can't use my earbuds!

So, I got some new earbuds, and I offered my wife a listen. Immediately after the words left my mouth I realized that I had just backed myself into a very disgusting corner. Sure, shes my wife, but I don't care. She still has two ear canals, neither of which I want anything to do with.
I reluctantly handed her the buds and after she gave them back I carefully inspected them for any signs that they had been in her body. She looked at me curiously and I just gave them a quick wipe and put them away for perhaps a more thorough cleaning later.
So, what about you? Do you share earbuds?

Wellllll, considering the other wifely fluids that have I have come into contact with, some quite intimately, a little ear wax does not really bother me. Strangers on the other hand need to back the fuck off!

Sharing earbuds is probably on the low end of "disgusting" stuff that husbands and wives do/share together.

i had those noise cancelling ones with the plastic. I remember seeing they had a protective film inside and I was like, hmm, i wonder why it's so thick?

Then I realized it was filled with my dried ear juice

Fuck no. I'm a germaphobe that used to have frequent ear infections and was half-deaf in 2nd grade due to unending canal stoppage.

Not with strangers. But I'd let my wife or kids have a listen if I got a new set. (Followed by a discreet cleaning.) We all have our own set, so there's no consistent sharing.

And it would take an extreme circumstance for me to share with non immediate family.

I probably wouldn't share earbuds with strangers but I wouldn't freak out if it happened.

Sharing with my wife (if I had one)? Who gives a shit.

Interesting. I've offered people to listen to something with my buds and have been offered the same from others. Every time the listener just holds the bud near their ear to hear it. I thought this was common practice in these situations.

Pretty sure it is, but OP was talking about his wife. I'd expect friends and acquaintances to just hold it near their ear.

Yeah, but lately the earbuds have all been those in-ear stuff, so they actually have to put them inside to hear anything :|

A few months ago I was on a plane with my wife and kids. I was watching a movie on my ipad and I noticed my daughter watching along, but since I had the earbuds in she couldn't hear the movie. Without even thinking about it I took out one bud and handed it to her. Without even thinking about it, she put it in her ear and we enjoyed the movie together.

I didn't even consider not giving her a chance to hear the movie.

What? No, why would that bother me?

Do you not touch your wife's private parts either because that is too 'icky'?

If she licked your ear, would you vomit instantly?

I'd let a total stranger use my earbuds if it wasn't because that would be weird, I really wouldn't care as long as there wasn't a huge chunk of wax staring back at me when I got them back.

op, do you let your wife use your keyboard or phone? on the hygienic scale that's about a bajilion times worse...

If they aren't clean enough:

If they are too clean, then enough earwax won't be present to eliminate harmful bacteria. Either way its disgusting, but you go right ahead.

Did your mom carefully inspected you for any signs that you've been in her body?

Alien Paranoia?

But..to get better conclusion...you and your mom have to visit your doctor...

And...NO GUNS TO YOU...Who knows who you're and what you can do with US Constitution Rights...
