no workie

Ok, so I was pluggin in the ethernet cable into a nic on my mom's computer while it was on. it seems that the card wasn't screwed down so the computer died. I haven't been able to get it working since. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this.

you should probably be a little more specific. have you opened the case and attempted to re-seat the card?

The same as any other failure. Remove all but the essentials. See if it starts. If it does make sure it's stable, install the other stuff one at a time in case something was blown. If it doesn't, then it may be fixable. If you get beep codes, carefully listen to the pattern and look it up online to see what's at fault. Remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes, then put it back and try again. Remove the memory and see if you get any beeps. If the power comes on and fans spin up, but you don't get beeps with no memory in it, then the mainboard is probably dead. If you get beeps with no memory then the board is good (or at least partly functional), maybe the memory or the processor is dead.
