No wonder why speakers sounded like shi......

The right front speakers tweeter was not working:|

I HONESTLY thought I had slowly been getting deaf or something. Upon messing replacing the speaker cable, trying it on different channels, trying a multitude of sin waves etc, I am now sure that the right tweeter is kaput🙁

In addition, the speaker is biampable, so they have two sets of interconnected binding posts. I took off the interconect to try them seperately. I THINK that one powers the tweeter and one powers the woofer, distributed by the interconnect if you want them to share your power, but am not sure. Either way, the top set does not work at all, while the bottm set does, allowing only the woofer to do its thing.

These speakers, Mirage Frx-5's, are very good. If anything, I am impressed that the 6.5 woofer made it to 1100hz falwlessly. I was going to go higher, until I realized that only the woofer was working

The tweeter on my GOOD, left speaker, is FABULOUS at 15000hz by the way😀

These things have a 5year warrenty so I can just take it back to the Home theater store and they will take care of it for me😀...

:Q

that format is from the 80s, right?😀

hehe... 🙂.

I wonder how you did break it though? Have you been listening @ strained volumes?

Sort of, but they are MIRAGE's. They are GOOD QUALITY SPEAKERS that can take it. Still, this has been the case for months. The thing is I had them upstairs, and although I did notice it, I wasn't sure what the problem was because it was a large room and they were so far away.

They are in my basement now, and I am very near them.

at least they are getting fixed, 🙂. thats all that matters.

Oh yeah. I have a 2.1 system, and sometimes turn off the sub and just use them as monitors(sounds great) beacuse they are sound fantastic. THAT's how i noticed.
