Sounds like jealousy to me. Cheney's about as likable as a rash.

But, Mr. Cheney is not one to see out photo opps either. I'm glad something was said about the two "Johns" and their recent togetherness. Granted, it could be just a lot of Right-wing spin, but I did find it fake and kind of like plastic as John Kerry hasn't been known for much of this type of behavior in the past.
I loved the part in the Washington Times article about hoping that the two Johns don't wear matching outfits during their bike ride this weekend. 🙂 🙂
Thanks for providing the link.

Looks like Edwards is taking a cue from the Klinton playbook, a multimillionare wearing a $15 cheapo plastic timex, what a load of crap, as soon as Klinton got out of office he started wearing $20K+ watches, he had them while he was in office, even got a few as gifts (Rolex President, LIP) but never wore them as to project a middle America image...personally I would have alot more respect for them if they just acted as they normally would and wore what they would on a regular basis instead of this silly attempt at seeming "common"...chances are Edwards has more than a few 5K+ watches in his wardrobe, probabily bought the timex just for show, either that or Klinton gave him the advice to wear it.

No offense, but this is madness, and nakedly partisan madness at that. Consider how trivial this topic is, and the amount of time you spent typing that post, then think about whether you would EVER make this kind of commentary about a Republican.
I am actually a watch afficionado, but not everyone is, and Edwards comes from a working-class background. Not all wealthy people (which I am not) have any interest in watches; I have never seen Bill Gates, for example, wearing an expensive watch, and IIRC he wears an inexpensive digital watch.
What kinds of watches do Bush and Cheney wear? Cheney is much wealthier than Edwards, so, by your logic (which I find preposterous), he too must be some kind of phony if he isn't wearing a JLC or better.

I care. Demoncrats appeal to the poor unclean masses and MUST wear cheap watches. Republicans appeal to the worldly leaders of this nation and are free to wear whatever watches they little hearts desire.

Partisan madness? really sorry for making an observation, one in which I am sure will also be brought up on my watch board...it is hypocracy plain and simple if he does in fact start sporting very nice watches after he leaves office as Klinton did, and yes I would make the same type of commentary about anyone had I noticed it...pretty hard not to spot in the pictures presented.
While not every wealthy person has an affinity for, or knows a good deal about fine wrist watches, I have yet to meet someone well to do who hasn't recieved one as a gift, more than likely they recieve a few, and especially seeing as how Edwards was a successful trial lawyer I personally don't feel it is far fetched to assume he might have gotten one as a bonus or what not, but then again it might be the lawyer in him telling him to tone down his attire as the last thing a jury wants to see is a stereotypical attorney. With Gates, in the loosest sense of the term he is a techie so I don't expect much, however he generally wears a new MSN watch or whatever they have out, good business promoting that which you sell.
Actually, Cheney wears a yellow gold day date, with the classic presidents bracelet and standard stick dial with fluted bezel, it is somewhat vintage so I figure it had at least a 10K price tag when purchased, now they go for over 18K. As far as Bush I have no idea as the only thing I have noticed him wearing were a bunch of ill chosen suits, however normally he wears a traditional Brooks brothers navy which is fine.
As far as JLC is concerned, true it would be an ok choice, however I feel for someone like Edwards an IWC, Zenith or even a Caltavara would be a nice choice considering his past.
