The only ranking that matters is the season-ending one. Cal finished AP top 10 in the early 90s and in 2004. Despite what you say, the Bears were conference champs in 2006. :)

Back on topic, people aren't saying that Clowney is a dirty player but that was a dirty play. Moreover, the Seahawks benefited the rest of the game from Wentz being KO'd. I don't want to over-legislate the game but ideally Clowney should be barred from the game while Wentz is out. I don't mean an ejection (unless warranted) but it's totally unfair that a dirty play gives your team a massive advantage. At the very least, it's an unnecessary roughness penalty, regardless of intent.
Call finished AP top 10 in early 90s and 2004? Won the conference in 2006? OMG, really? How did that go by me??? You sure?

Edit: From Wikipedia...

The Bears began the (2006) season with a number 12 ranking. After sustaining an upset by then number 23-ranked Tennessee in their opening game, the Bears won their next eight games before suffering another upset to unranked Arizona followed by a subsequent loss to then number 4 USC. All of these defeats came in away games. The Bears qualified for a share of the Pac-10 title after USC was upset by rival UCLA the following week. The team made its second Holiday Bowl in three years, blowing out #21 Texas A&M and finishing the season ranked #14.

Edit2: Cal was ranked #9 in the AP poll with a 10-2 record after week 15 in 2004.

Wow, you forget the team was really strong with Aaron Rodgers for 2 seasons. (Nearly defeated #1 USC in L.A.) That was the season the Bears arguably deserved to play in the Rose Bowl, but Texas head coach Mack Brown lobbied for his squad to jump over Cal in the coaches poll.

And Yale won the National Championship in 1907 and 1909. Yale hasn't been relevant since then and Cal hasn't been relevant in nearly 20 years. Cal is a placeholder, they're like Vanderbilt in the SEC or NC State in the ACC. Their sole reason to exist is for the good teams to beat them and get bowl eligible. That is, if the Pac 12 had any good teams.

Yeah, I remember that season. And the SC game (IIRC, I was listening on the radio at one point): Rogers started out IIRC 22/22 passing. At that moment I realized the 49ers should take him at #1, but they chose Alex Smith instead. Seemed like all they could do was make mistakes drafting back then.

Yeah, TX jobbed Cal out of the Rose Bowl. IIRC, Cal hasn't played in the Rose Bowl (the January 1 game, not the stadium) since the 1950's. Not infrequently they cheer they "smell roses" in the cheering section but it never happens.

Did no one watch the NCG last night? lol

Did LSU win? I stopped watching around the 3rd qtr because the game was going way too fucking long and it was starting to look like Clemson couldn't stop them anymore (Especially after that LB got kicked out of the game)

Is highland still alive?

The broadcast length was ridiculous and the Trump rally that preceded the national anthem was a friggin joke as well. Sure the fans did it spontaneously AFAIK; it is a red state after all. But obviously the Trump org set up his appearance as a de facto campaign event.

lol, I didn't know that happened. I mean...the fans of those teams, though. It's basically a Trump rally at that point.

I still don't know who won...

45 to 26 or something, LSU. Didn't watch but read the recap in the NYTimes. Or was it the Wash. Post? Borrow had 5 or 6 touchdowns, one running.

Fat boy went to bed at the half. Saw the writing on the wall.

Joe bloeaux was unstoppable and Kelly Bryant tossed 17 over the receivers heads. 5 was the most previously.

Aside, there was a serious accident at 145. Highland's wife, an ABC (anybody but Clemson) fan, fell down the stairs 14 times after getting drunk on LSU's scoring.

Sad.

Amazon gift cards work. TIA.
