No way to bring the temp down....

So I bought the Alcu 7000B for my 3400+ Clawhammer, add in Arctic Silver 5. I put a bit of AS5 in the middle of the CPU, then put in the HSF. First time I get 22c (not true, but it used to be 27c), then it keep coming up to 24c and stop. That's when it's idle, so when I run many application, it would hit 27c.

So I take them out and clean both HSF and CPU. I put in AS5 again, but this time even tinier! Now I get like 24c idle, when running something, it hit 25c-27c. So I run it for like half an hour, not satisfy with the temp, I did it again for the THIRD time. Still the same, the lowest idle state is 24c.

I'm pretty sure I did exactly like the instruction as in AS5. I don't know how people can get like 10 degree drop when using AS5 + Alcu 7000A. Mine only drop like 3 degree from the original. This suck. Also, people who got the same mobo as mine also have high temp as well =(

I don't know that many here could complain about only getting 24C idle. That's already really low. Perhaps when your temps were so low to begin with, there wasn't much that AS5 could improve on.

Yup, your CPU temperature won't get much lower because it was already very low (and good!) to begin with.

No no guys, MB5 showed me as 24c, but my Soltek HM showed as 44c. I let my system run for 5 hours already, now the thing show up as 28c... =( Whatever MB5 show me, I have to add in 20 as it's relevant to Soltek HM one. What temp do you guys have?

That 24C figure is your system temp, not your cpu temp. MBM is just reporting the wrong figure.

MBM ended development 6 months ago, so you should probably get some more recent software; use
Everest.

Look at this thread. Also check that you have the latest motherboard bios. Your temps from within the bios should be accurate.

Well, the new BIOS doesn't fix the temp reading. Many other Soltek mobo user as I am also have high temp as well. Most of them got the same BIOS like mine (T1.1), some got the newer one (T1.2), but still run in the same high temp. I keep cleaning and repaste this for like 3~4 times already, but my temp doesn't drop in a huge difference.

Btw...I don't user Everest since it never show me my CPU temp. Whenever I click on Computer, then Sensor, it show me:

Motherboard: 27c
Aux (monitor icon): 36c
Samsung HDD: 17c

Btw, I ran Prime95 torture test for 3 hours already. Just opened the case to touch the HSF, and it not even warm.

Doesn't AS5 have a break in period? Isn't it something like 100 hours and a few thermal cycles before it starts working at it's best? If you keep removing and reapplying it, you are not letting it break in.

Sorry, but I'm kinda paranoid with the cooling. Seeing how people can have stock HSF + AS5 can get better temp than me.

Anyway, I just take it out and clean them ONCE AGAIN! This time though, I don't do like the AS5 instruction website said. I put like 1 drop (size of a white rice), then start spreading it out all over my CPU evenly. I do it very very careful, then put in my Zalcu Alcu 7000B. Btw, everytime I put in the Zalcu, the thing slide a little bit ( It just happen, no matter how careful I am).

The temp is now 45c on the BIOS, and it used to be like 47c on the other method. Now, going to the Soltek HM, it give me the same 44c (this is just wrong). Everest and MM5 only showed me my Mobo's temp, AGP temp....and chassic temp.

Well, I'm not going to do any cleaning and repaste again. I'll stop right here since my AS5 is going to be out soon.

It's actually 200 hours and several thermal cycles so I'd let it be for a week or so and see what happens.

Hey gun, I let my computer run for a whole day non stop. When I open it and touch the HSF while it running, the HSF is not even warm at all. So is it good yet?
