No Vsync support on HL2 in SLI mode

:| I, like many of you, are having intermittent sucess with my SLI rig.

specs:

Asus A8N-SLI Delux
2 x XFX 6600 GT (67.03 drivers)
500 watt power supply
WD-Raptor
Samsung HLP5063 DLP via DVI

If I don't run the 6600 cards with Vsync ON, I get 'image tearing' accross the horizontal. With vsync ON everything looks great! The problem is that when I enable vsync in HL2, it doesn't seem to take effect (tearing still exists). In addition, it seems that the 6600 drivers are not consistantly controlled through the apps.

example

Game..............vsync enabled....................... vsync enabled
................through Nvidia control pannel..........though game
================================================

Far Cry...............good................................doesn't take (bad)

Doom 3........doesn't take (bad).........................good

HL2..............doesn't take (bad)...................doesn't take (bad)

If I dissable SLI and run a single card, HL2 looks fine (w/ vsync enabled), but I get the same image tearing results if I turn vsync off (with single card).

So, lots of questions here, but where to start? Is this a video card driver problem, or a motherboard BIOS issue, or a Valve problem w/ the way they use the Nvidia drivers? HL2 is on the list of SLI supported games... so one would suspect that vsync should work correctly...

BTW: both Doom and Far Cry look FANTASTIC in SLI mode -> no problems!

Did you also turn vsync on or off within HL2? HL2 has the option to control vsync in the video options menu. What is it set at in the driver control panel?

There are 2 places where vsync is set, either in the driver control panel or within the game and depending on what you set it at is how it works.

Good questions, both. Yes, I have enabled vsync in both the control pannel and inside the HL2 Video setup. I've also tried the other two combinations as well -> no sucess.

I've thought about trying the latest ForceTech drivers (71.22 I think), but don't hold out much hope.

I've also heard nightmare stories about upgrading to the beta BIOS on the MB... not ready to do that either yet...
