I just got a MSI K8T Neo2 and a evga 6800gt and when I press the power button I get no display the moniter stays black, even though all fans spin and hard drive starts. I've tried replugging everything and still have same problem. I also tried a known working video card and no display either. I'm guessing the mobo arrived dead but I ordered a combo from monarch and they tested it before shipping. I have no idea to what could be going on. Also I get an error according to lights on the motherboarding which tells me according to msi's website that I have "Early Chipset Initialization ". What does that mean?

What power supply are you running, what brand & model? If you can take the time to hit Quote and fill in the example below with your own rig's info, that would give people "the big picture" on your system's power load and so forth:

• CORE HARDWARE
• Power supply Antec TruePower 430
• Motherboard Asus K8N-E Deluxe
• Revision 1.03
• BIOS 1005
• CPU Athlon64 3000+
• Core 130nm Clawhammer
• Memory (2) 512MB Corsair XMS 3200C2 modules
• Voltage Manually set to 2.7 volts
• Timings AUTO, results in 2-3-2-6 @ 200MHz
• CARDS
• Primary video card ATI Radeon 9800Pro AGP 8x
• PCI slot #1 (top) empty
• PCI slot #2 empty

• PCI slot #4 Creative Audigy 2 ZS
• PCI slot #5 LSI Logic Ultra160 SCSI
• PCI slot #6 (board only has five PCI slots)
• DRIVES
• Boot drive 160GB Seagate 7200.7

• Controller hosting this drive nForce3 SATA controller
• Jumper setting not applicable (SATA)
• Additional hard drive 40GB Seagate 7200.7
• Interface Parallel ATA
• Controller hosting this drive nForce3 standard ATA controller, primary channel
• Jumper setting Master
• Additional hard drive 18GB Seagate Cheetah 15k.3

My power supply is a new Rosewill 450 watt. Im running the 6800gt, a soundcard, cd-rom, and harddrive along with the processor. All the fans spin and lights stay on so I dont believe it is the power supply.

Rosewill powering a 6800GT... :( *shakes head*

Try a very low-powered video card in there, such as a Radeon 7500 or an old GeForce4MX, and see if it's just what I think it is here. I assume you did get both the ATX12V cable and the video card's powerline to the power supply plugged in.

If that doesn't help, then refer to my no-POST/no-run help guide here (first link on that page).

What core is your CPU, 90nm or 130nm? The new 90nm models require BIOS updates on popular boards like the Asus A8V Deluxe and your MSI, so it could be that. Look on the first pages of your motherboard owner's manual and see if they say what BIOS revision it has installed from the factory.

If you're not sure what core your CPU has, then look at your invoice from where you bought it. Some models of CPU only come in one core or the other, so also post your CPU info ("Athlon64 3000+ Socket939" or whatever).

Its a 90nm but monarch was suppose to update the bios for me. I couldn't update the bios anyway becaue I can't get to the bios screen or do anything because nothing shows up on the moniter. I know the video card works also.

On a further note I talked to a Monarch support person and he gave me some options to try. One was to boot out of the case and that didn't work. Another was to take the cmos battery out for 5 minutes which I did and the machine still would not display anything. I have tried pc2700 memory and pc 3200 memory all are known to be working and I get nothing. Monarch issued me an RMA on the motherboard. Also I have built computers before so I know what I'm doing and I checked all the cables and connections and ruled out any other faulty hardware pieces, so it was probably a bad motheboard.
