I've built 2 machines prior with this board, almost indentical and now i'm running into a road block.

I order, two duron chips, two ecs boards, two 128 meg sticks, 250powersupplys.

I evened up the parts to each machine. I get no video on each machine, no post.

I don't understand what i am doing wrong, i've used this board so many times! I know the chips are ok. I have tried several different types of ram.

This is what i do,
1. Mount the processor w/ heatsink
2. Put ram in
3. Put Mobo in case
4. Attach PS
5. Attach Video Card (AGP and PCI)
6. Attach Power_SW wire
7. Attach Speaker Wire
8. Boot
CPU Fan spins, no video, no post, no beep.

Help!!!

Thanks

I'm having the same problem, after I switched processors. I've tried everything short of replacing the PS and mobo. Makes me mad, this thing was working flawlessly 15 minutes before :disgust:

justin, you did move the "CMOS Clear" jumper off Clear to Normal, didn't you?

Maybe you already know this, but the AGP slot on the K7S5A is really tight. You need to really shove that video card in place. With my boards it was also sort of a 2 step process. The video card would sort of snap in place, but if you pushed harder it would go into the AGP slot farther. The board would never boot with the video card only pushed into that first step. It had to be in all the way.

edit: Are you sure those are AMD approved power supplies? This board is very picky about power supplies.

The jumpers were set correctly. I moved them to the clear cmos, it wouldn't even take power then. Then i put it back to normal. It did the same thing, no video.

I will try to reseat the video card again.

I am using AOpen 250W power supplies.

Thanks guys, lemme know if you have any more ideas.

No dice on reseating the video card, tried two different cards. I am starting to wonder about the PSU, anyone know if ECS supports the AOpen 250W's....its a 950mhz duron in it.

250watt is mighty weak for these boards. Also, make sure your ram is seated. DDR Ram can be latched, but not seated. Check the ECS forum at OCWorkbench. com. They have covered every problem ever found with this board. BTW, I have one on my game machine, and I love it.

One suggestion that worked in the past with this board was to remove the AGP card and install a PCI video card to get it to boot. Then, shut down and reinstall the AGP card. Sounds weird but it has worked for many in the past. I would also stress (as others have done) that you remove and reinstall the video card a few times; not just once or even twice. That slot is a bear to work with.
I'd also caution you about the 250 watt PS. Yes, there have been a few instances where a 250 watter has been successful but that is the extreme exception to the rule. A "good quality" 300 watt will work usually but a 350+ is better. The board is very finicky about power. Doesn't matter (much anyway) if it is a Duron. If you can find/beg/borrow/steal (temporarily) a better PS then you should try that also.

I'm getting very frustrated.

Here's what I have done lately all to no avail.

1. Let the CMOS Clear Jumper sit for a few minutes on clear.
2. Removed and Reseated the battery.
3. Put in another 250w PSU which is working in another ECS K7S5A setup.
4. Reseated the AGP card several times, tried another AGP Card.
5. Tried a PCI Card.

Still no video. No beeps CPU Fan Spins, HD spins up, These parts other then the MOBO have been confirmed to work. I am afraid though because i do have TWO k7s5a boards that are doing this. They were both ordered from newegg in the last few days. I need this machine working by today, or I am SOL.

I have a 300W psu i am going to try out of this machine i am typing on, it is also a k7s5a. I will slowly swap parts until I get a boot, I Just hope that board isn't frying my parts.

Searching this board and the OC boards i've seen alot of people have had this problem, noone seems to know what fixes it for sure, everyones was something different.

thanks guys

Maybe it's just some strange grounding issue. See if it will work outside of the case.
