I recently built a new machine, all the drives power up, I can hear the HD spin up, and the two panel lights are on, but there the monitor light remains orange. There is one short beep. (I think that's normal.)

This system was orignally in an Abit KR7-raid w/ a 1800+, but I though I cracked the core.
Thanks for any help!

You probably already tried this, but I'd replace the video card.
Is that the model with the onboard video?

It doesn't have on-board video.. and I'm trying to find a AGP card to swap in the system.. The fingers don't match on the really old card (Think it was a Rage Pro) I tried.

Guess I'm in the market for a new VC. . :frown: Visontek still honoring their lifetime warentee? Maybe this is a good thing. :)

First thing I would do is unhook everything from the keyboard then only put in a single stick of ram(if you have more then one try both at different times), cpu(hs&f), and video card, have the pwr bttn connected along with the keyboard and monitor. Turn it on and see what happens.

If it doesn't boot you can try to do the same thing with the mobo being out of the case. If that doesn't work then you are probably right about it being the video card but it could also be the mobo or cpu. Just because they seem fine don't mean they are.

I was an idiot. The problem was a PCI Rage pro somehow got installed and was interfearing with the AGP card.

Now when I start the software installs, it keeps turning itself off. Especially during the windows XP install. I believe this is the Knowlege Base dealing with the issue.

Is 72-75 C to hot for a 2500+ for semi-idle after 5 minutes power?
Lastly the Maxtor partitioning program (using Dr-Dos) gives an error.
"Dos cannot load! Press any key to continue."
Pressing a key does nothing. Is this falure due to the SATA/Raid?
