Question No video signal from motherboard

Hi, since I put together some components to build the computer few days ago, it has happened several times that my 4K TV states that there is no video signals. There is nothing wrong with the TV nor the cable as they have been used with other computers without any issue. Usually I just reboot the computer and the problem solved. Over the past hour, it never works. Sometimes the ASUS logo showed up on the screen and then no video signal. Sometimes the ASUS logo did not even show up. The last thing that such continuous failure happened was I went to ASUS website to update all the drivers. Then, I went to the system to click on HDR as my TV is 4K HDR. Then, the screen turned blank and TV only sohws no video signal is detected. Could it be problem with the motherboard, RAM or CPU? Could it be due to static electricity I experienced?

I plugged in the Windows 10 installation usb stick and I could reinstall Windows. Could there be two issues here. For example: 1) clicking on HDR somehow screwed up Windows but that does not explain why sometimes the ASUS LOGO did not show up. 2) Hardware issue of the motherboard especially the part related to video output.

What suggestions do you have? Replace the MB/CPU/RAM?

Go to the Intel site and get the latest drivers for the graphics and the chipset.

Make sure the BIOS is current.

Try a new cable anyway.

Thanks. I remember going to ASUS site and installed the latest graphics and chipset drivers. Then, went to Windows, tried to switch on HDR and lost video signal. Sometimes rebooting showed ASUS logo but sometimes no.

So now is the time to update the BIOS...

Intel seems to show a newer video driver than ASUS?
Maybe Intel has newer chipset drivers as well?

OK. I will do it.

As I mentioned in the forum, I touched the frame and got some kind of electric shock. Same thing also when I touched the heatsink. I am a bit worry that possible static electricity might have caused the malfunction. I only have a few days left to return the items.

I suggest to avoid any power surge issues, please purchase ESD Anti-Static Wrist Strap and make sure to turn off your computer when you try to remove any components. I suggest to have surge protector power strips for your computer as well to avoid any electrical static discharge.

Thanks. I have bought the wrist strap but I have a hard time in finding an adapter that allows me to connect the wrist strap to the ground. Know any source?

I remember I had to do something in my BIOS because when I turned on my PC, there would be no picture until the OS was actually loaded.......

But, anyhow, I would turn off all that power-saving stuff

1. Command prompt w/admin priviledges 'powercfg -h off' that should turn off hibernation
2. control panel - power settings - select all to 'never'
3. Is there more than one display adapter listed in Device Mangler?

I dont know the difference between the HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort with respect to 'displayability'

How long is the cable you're using to connect to the TV? (signal degradation?)

Are you use build in Graphics processor or discrete graphics processor? GPU? If it is Integrated Graphics, do you use Displayport? Specifications of the displayport in the bac is "DisplayPort with max. resolution 4096 x 2304 @ 24 Hz / 4096 x 2304 @ 60 Hz "
