No Video Overlay

Somewhere within the 9x.xx series of drivers I began getting this error in the Overlay Color Settings area of the control panel: "Overlay is disabled, no controls available". I also noticed several video applications refused to go into overlay. My hardware acceleration for the graphics adapter is at full. GeForce 7800GT here.

Is anyone else having this problem?

P.S. Yes, I have tried reinstalling several drivers of the 9x.xx series. Right now I'm on the latest WHQL official (93.71) and it still refuses to work.

Ack, it appears it doesn't work with older drivers either. Guess I have more debugging to do.
