First my system specs.
MOBO - Gigabyte ga-ma790fx-dq6
CPU - AMD Athlon64 X2 6000+
RAM - 4 Gigs Transend 800mhz
Vid - 2x Radeon 3870 in Crossfire
Audio - SB X-Fi Extreme Music
HDD - 5 HDD total space 1.3 TB
Optical - 2x DVD Burner
Fans - 6 120MM Case Fans, 1 200mm Case fan
Case - Coolermaster Cosmos S
Power - Thermaltake 650Watt

Monitor - 22" Viewsonic (With Ipod Dock)
Logitech G15 Keyboard and Logitech Revolution Mouse

Up until yesterday I had not had any problems with my system. However, I had decided to change my CPU cooler, since I had been using the Stock Cooler, and was looking for something that would cool it a little better as well as run a little quieter. I purchased the Cooler Master V8 CPU cooler. The Cooler itself is quit big and required me to remove the 200mm Fan on the side of the case. to install the Cooler onto the MOBO I had to completely remove everything from the MOBO and install a bracket on the back on the MOBO for the cooler to attach to. No, my MOBO already had a copper bracket on the back, but due to the odd screw design of the V8 I could not use it and had to remove it. Once I had everything installed I powered on the computer. All the fans(CPU,GPU,Case, etc) powered on. The HDDs and DVD drives powered on, although the DVD drives were acting a little strange. They seemed like they were trying to access a disc, even though there was not one in the drive. Also, there was no output to the monitor. It just stayed black.

I have checked all the cables to make sure they are fastened. I have removed everything from the system except for the CPU, Vid Card and 1 stick of RAM. I have tried both of my vid cards, in different slots and still nothing. I have tried using a different monitor but that didn't help.

I have tried removing and the reinserting the CMOS battery but it didn't make any difference. Also, now the system will power on without me even pushing the power button, but won't power off if I push it. ( The Cosmos S case uses a touch button, instead of the standard push button. You simply place your finger on it and the system will power on. Hold your finger on it for a few seconds to power off. There is no reset button.)

I thought it may have been a bad CPU so I bought a new one. (Athlon X2 5600+) Still no change.

There are NO beeps coming from the computer when I turn it on.

I am really hoping that I won't have to replace the MOBO, but if I must I must. Any help that you folks could offer would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Pull all the extra stuff from the PC. Basicly try starting it with just the CPU, a single DIMM of RAM and one video card. Leave everything else disconnected.

I fear you scratched the board installing that thing. Check - even the smallest damage can cut traces and render the board inoperable.

1) the mobo could be grounding out on the case

2)New CPU fan does not have good contact on the CPU which could be possibly overheating.

True, it could also be that.

No beep codes and no video at all? He should be getting a few seconds out of it no matter how bad the contact.
