This is probably my 6th build with this mobo, and second one that I can't get video on. Using a Duron 1 Ghz morgan core. No beeps on boot. Have reseated everything, tried a known good AGP and PCI card, etc. etc. I am using a case with an AMD approved 400W PS that works with a Duron 950/K7S5A system just fine. The RAM works in the other box too. Can't flash the bios if I can't see anything. Any ideas?

BTW combined wattage on PS 3.3 and 5V is 180 watts, so that should cover it right?

I went through the same problems. I even tried two different CPUs, four sticks of ram, two agp cards, 1 pci card, and two PSUs. I could not get the board to do anything so I had to RMA it.

Never buying this board again. Kind of sucks because Fry's run cpu/mobo sales with these all the time for $79, and its my best seller. But damn the RMA rate is high on it.

I had the same problem on the one K7S5A I built. No beeps no video. I took my Asus AGP card out of my other box (Epox mb) and the K7S5A booted right up. I saved the bios settings even though I had changed nothing. Put the original video back in and it has been working since, about 2 weeks now. Pretty weird. The board was completely dead at the start and I was surprised it was revived.

I've seen many people confess that they didn't push the AGP card in all the way the first time. The K7S5A has a pretty tight AGP slot, so make sure it's all the way in. And if it's a freshly assembled system, remember to tighten the screws holding the mainboard AFTER you put the cards in, to allow the stuff to align properly with the case.

What Peter said! I've seen 100's of posts with that issue resolved by a few reseatings ;)

I searched and saw your answers before I posted, Peter. Thank you. But yes I did reseat the AGP card at least 5 times, and tried several different models. I put the same cards in my ECS K7S5a/Duron 950 combo and had no problems. I also tried PCI cards in two different slots, and still no video. Taking it back to Fry's today to get a new one. Turns out this mobo was returned (I just took the one the salesman gave me and didn't look for the dreaded return sticker of death). So probably a newbie burned up the board and returned it lol :)

Now don't we just HAVE to love those folks who put their battery powered fake halo on and return stuff without admitting they broke it? And don't we love the dealers just as much who don't do the least bit of testing on returned stuff before handing it back out?
