No video on bootup with new computer...

I just built a new computer for my girlfriend, and I'm having a problem. Everything seems to be popping on just fine (mobo lights up, hd/dvdrom are running, cpu/case/gpu fans are spinning around), but when I turn it on the monitor doesnt turn on. Usually it has an orange light that's on when it's off, and turns green when I boot up the computer (this is the monitor from my other computer) - I turn the computer on and I get the "No Signal" message. The gpu fan is running so I'm assuming it's working.

Any ideas?

Thanks

EDIT: well I noticed the 12v 4pin wasnt plugged in, so I plugged it in. Seems with that plugged in it wont boot at all! Unplug it and everything boots (except the monitor of course). Another thing I noticed is that the 4pin in the PSU fits on the mobo with ease, but the little shapes on the connector are facing different directions than the input on the mobo...

EDIT AGAIN: If I plug the 12v in it wont boot at all, but to get it to boot w/out the 12v I have to unplug the 24pin and replug it. Every time I try it with the 12v and it doesnt boot I have to unplug the 24pin and replug it to get anything to happen.

Can you check on the 4pin power? That is strange about the pin sockets being different. I have seen where people have tried to use a 8 pin PCIe power connector and tried to connect that to the motherboard (and vice versa).

I guess standard trouble-shooting... What motherboard model, video card, CPU, RAM, power supply etc., are you using? Are you using a DVI -> VGA or VGA->DVI converter at all in this? Remember you can not convert a VGA to a DVI-D or a DVI-D to a VGA, you will get a blank screen with no signal like you are seeing.

Thanks for the help thus far. We're going to pick up a new power supply in about an hour to see if that't the problem. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Could be the ram won't boot at default 1.8V. I recall that ram has specs of 2.0-2.1V. Try some other ram if you have any though I doubt 1.8 is insufficient for booting at default settings in bios.

Yes, I had this problem. The problem remains though since when you completely lose power the BIOS defaults to 1.8v again.

I have no idea what you're talking about here, and I don't have any other ram to try. I have the exact same ram in my computer (Asus P5K-E) and it runs great.
