no video from my sapphire x1600xt to my lcd (E171FP)...how to debug?

hi all, i just put together my new setup. i noticed that i get no video on my lcd. the lcd itself is analog (no dvi support). i'm using the sapphire x1600xt card in which I've tried connecting to the VGA port as well as using the DVI->VGA converter for the DVI port. could the problem be that my lcd supports analog only or shouldn't this output in analog as well? im trying to narrow down the possible problems here. thanks in advance.
 
my research shows this should do VGA. unfortunatley i only have an AGP card which does not fit on the A8N-E mobo. is there anyway i can debug this to find out if it's a mobo issue or a video card problem?
 
looks like this is a very unpopular thread...to give more details my lcd is the E171FP model (once again no DVI ...so i'm not sure if this is an issue)
