I just built a computer. I put in all the parts fine. When I turn it on, everything starts spinning, lights light up, but then no video appears and the system beeps regularly. The components are:
Athlon XP 1700+
Epox 8KHAL
Geforce 2 - V
256 mb PC2100 Mushkin
I haven't worked with a computer in a while, but back when I was toying with 486's, I had a similar problem when the cpu was installed incorrectly. I decided to check out the CPU, but its in correctly and it doesn't look cracked from the heatsink. I've also removed and reinstalled the ram. Nothing works.

beeps regularly, as in it never stops? beep beep beep, or is there a certain pattern?

Anyways, remove the video card and boot it, see if the beeping still happens.

reseat the ram, make sure it clicks into place. also did you consult your motherboard manual on how to populate the ram banks? this could also be a problem. And Iamwiz also has a good point, make sure the video card is securely in place in the agp slot.

I removed the video card - still beeps. I put it back in - still beeps. I made sure it was set right - still beeps. I put the ram in each of the 3 banks - still beeps. When I say it beeps, I mean that it beeps for 2 seconds, stops for about 2 seconds, and then beeps again in the same manner. It just continues doing this. I am pretty sure that the RAM and video card are in correctly, and the cpu is oriented correctly. The only thing I can think of is that the CPU is damaged. I don't see how though - I put the heat sync on very carefully and i didn't hear any cracks, and the CPU has only been operating with the heat sync on.

do you have another motherboard you can try your hardware out on, preferably one you know works?

Seems like it's memory related. here is your answer

DO you have another stick of RAM?
