ok my sisters comp was just in need of a format.
everyhting worked fine
PIII 550 mhz
384 mb
radeon 9000

i reformated. and when i go do something after a while the video signal goes away and i see nothing on the screen.

this happens 100% when i open IE and try to do windows update.

everything has worked before for the past like 5 years with no format and when i format i get problems. what is up?

i thought i was an overheating issue or something but nothing has changed but a fresh install of windows.

Do you have onboard video in addition to your Radeon 9000 card?

Latest Catalyst drivers?

Got another video card you can try in the system?

yes i do have onboard

yes i set it to agpin bios

i cant install teh drivers.
i tired installing CCC but it says something about put in the vga driver inf error. or something

Try removing the Radeon 9000 temporarily to see if the problem arises then. If you can't disable the onboard in your BIOS, you'll need to disable it in Device Manager. Then I would shut down, put in the Radeon, then power on and DL the latest Catalyst drivers (I think you have to get version 6.5 for a Radeon 9000 and others, I'm pretty sure 6.7's don't support those and others. But there are links on the download page for that specific card).
