A friends computer suddenly lost the taskbar.See has w2k pro.I had her to take the mouse to all 4 sides incase someone set it to hide taskbar.She says no taskbar to be found?

Try hitting <Ctrl> + <Esc> to bring it up, then check the Properties. Sounds like she might have accidentally resized it.

Sounds like the task bar was minimized. If she holds the cursor at any of the 4 sides she should look for a double headed arrow. When she finds the arrow have her drag it away from the edge of the screen, towards the center.
