No "true" SPDIF out on Realtek ALC850

I've had this problem for a while, and now its really starting to drive me crazy. I'm using the SPDIF (coax) output from my mobo, but for some reason, it will not output sound in Media Player or in games like Star Wars Republic Commando. It "forces" me to have to hook up my speakers to the analog outs on the sound card, I have system sounds otherwise and can run the stupid little speaker tests that are in teh sound manager. I have the latest driver version, and i've tried everything, the sound manager only has options for changing 2/4/6/8 channel output, NOTHING about enabling SPDIF out. Also, it always says MSI, is there a way to install just generic Realtek sound manager software or is it checking my hardware somehow? On my old Audigy, all you had to do was go under advanced options and choose "Enable SPDIF out" and you would have a digital out for everything. Is there any registry setting that i'm missing? This thing is driving me nuts!
