wouldn't it be safer to do a proof of concept with extinct plants first?

some smaller ones would probably do alright near the equator, but the larger varieties could never survive based on the O2 content of today's atmosphere (I think this is also why don't have giant man-eating spiders, sadly)

either way, I don't see any "dinosaurs" coming out of this.

why not? for the carnivores, there is food everywhere. i.e. us
