No talking at lunch or else we can't hear you choke

I think you're more prone to choking while talking and eating at the same time. While seemingly retarded, the school is in a position where it HAS to do SOMETHING

Schools are becoming more and more ridiculous. I'm glad none of these weird rules were around when I was in school. I really don't want to know what many of these kids are going to be like when they get older.

No biggie. It sounds like their lunch is like mine was in Junior High--as soon as you finish eating you go out to play. Eat without talking then you can talk all you want outside. *shrug*

EDIT: LOL, elementary school I mean...

I really didn't realize that this was abnormal. The teacher's aide that was in charge of monitoring student lunches while I was in elementary school could have easily been a stunt double for Hitler, as she seems far more vicious. I'd say that 4 out of 5 days a week we were "in trouble," and couldn't speak above a low whisper during lunch -- and we only got away with that because the principal wouldn't let her outright ban talking. I really don't know how she manages to sleep at night... she ought to fear for her life, given the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of students that still wish her an early death.
