If you have access to Time Stop, Horrid Wilting is a far superior choice to Fireball. Besides, Globe of Invulnerability blocks fireball, and GoI is everywhere in contingencies. Also, Improved Alacrity+Robe of Vecna+Sunfire = death to anything not immune to fire. The Robe of Vecna makes the sunfires cast immediately, and improved alacrity lets you fire them off as fast as you want. Bonus points if you use a project image to do all this.Originally posted by: Spartan Niner

Officially, Ribald and Delia will have the best items for sale. However, you'll locate some pretty powerful items throughout the course of the game.Originally posted by: dennilfloss
I saw that mentioned in BG2 sites. Was just wondering if there was anything else.
If you defeat Kangaxx, the demi lich, he has an awesome ring. He's a damn hard fight though, and you'd better have some scrolls of Freedom available with a mage able to cast them.
In the Temple district, in the second floor of one of the large temples in the lower part of the map, there are several powerful opponents that attack you on sight that also have some nice gear.
Be warned though, I found these two encounters to be the toughest in the game, more than the end fight sequences.
I remember playing the Temple district one with some AT folks a year or so ago. I remember we had Fenixgoon, Userman, and 1-2 other ATers.
Time Stop + Fireball + Fireball + Time Stop + Fireball + Magic Missile + Time Stop + Magic Missile + Hold Person
I think that's close to what I did to "soften up" some of them
And... *raises hand* I played an Assassin for the AT game. Backstabbing when you only have to worry about one character is SOOOO much easier. When I realized this, I knew that my eventual solo game would HAVE to include a thief... and Use Any Item, woo!
Fresh from my full Baldur's Gate Trilogy run with a neutral/evil party, I'm now playing a chaotic good FMT, dual-wielder. So far, actually, there haven't been many situations where I wish I had a full party - a couple hours into Chapter 2 and I already have 1.8m EXP...can't wait to see what I'll have by the time the Underdark rolls around.
