Today for some reason I only had one channel coming out of my speakers, I realized the cord was bad.

I then plugged in headphones, only one channel in them as well, so I determined that my motherboard was acting up.

I, at the time, was running through the front audio ports on my computer. I unplugged them so I could just start from square one there, then realized I left my mobo manual at home.

I plugged the headphones to the back of the computer, now I have zero sound whatsoever.

I tested the speakers and headphones on my ipod and found that my headphones are acting up on their own (one channel again). And the cord to the speakers is still bad.

It seems that my computer was fine the entire time, but now I have NO sound? How is this possible???

If you have any audio drivers that came with the motherboard, try those. Otherwise get some drivers from Realtek (or whatever your onboard sound is) and try those.

You could also check your jumper settings, but I doubt it's that

The strange thing is that when I have the nVidia drivers installed and when I open the nvmixer and make a sound or something (obviously I can't hear it, but if i play music ie) it shows the equalizer bars and stuff moving like sound is coming out..
