I have a brand new system I built with a DFI AK-74-SC motherboard and a Duron 650 CPU. Everything is working properly except for the onboard sound which I've spent two days trying to fix. In bios I've enabled "onboard legacy audio","Soundblaster","Gameport"and "MPU01". When I boot it finds the Audio Controller and Gameport and loads the devices with no conflicts, but I hear no sound and no MPU,playback,or recording devices are found in sound properties, nor is there a speaker icon in the tray. I uninstalled and reloaded the drivers with no luck. I've updated with the drivers from the DFI site. I even flashed the bios and have had no success with sound. At this time "Device Manager" shows "Gameport Joystick" and "VIA AC'97 Audio Controller (WDM)" No conflicts IRQ's appear normal, but still no sound. HELP!!!!!!

Thanks,
Frog

Make sure "onboard sound" (in one of the other cmos setup screens,
right above or below "onboard modem") is also enabled. It seems
redundant or wrong, but I found it necessary.

I've checked that several times and it doesn't matter either way it wouldn't work. I did try an add-in card and it wouldn't work either. I reinstalled Windows and it works fine now. Go figure. Must have not loaded correct components the first time.

Thanks for the help
