No sound on new DQ965GF

We recently built two quad-core boxes with the Intel DQ965GF board.

The machines work fine but XP can't detect any sound device (the boards use on-board Sigmatel audio). The drivers provided by Intel on the website or on the CD don't work: they either won't install at all, or simply do nothing.

XP does see an unknown PCI-device, which I presume is the Audio. However, installing any drivers for it simply fails.

Both machines are identical and have the exact same problem.

Any clues?

On board audio also enabled in the BIOS, of course.

Did you install the Q965 chipset drivers?

Yes. Still doesn't work.

Okay, problem solved.

The problem is the .exe for the driver. It just won't install. I used 7-zip to extract the .inf file and forced the driver via device manager and it worked.
