no sound on mandrake linux pls help

Im using 8.2 linux by mandrake, my problem is i dont have any sound, the hardware seems to be working fine and installed properly its an on board yamahaXG 740c chip, cd music works fine except for the PCM, when I play mp3 winamp works ok but theres no sound, I checked the audio mixer but to no avail. thanks

Maybe onboard sound is disabled in your BIOS...

haha back when i use linux my onboard intel sound would not work either sometimes and mostly not at all

my cd rom would not work that good

my intel gfx lags

my linux lags gave me cpu over load probs

all 512 of ram eats up on boot and thats with the basic linux install
and my god i can go on and on.....linux sure is not what i here it to be

but boy does my XP works and runs everything so fast and stable......im not saying ms$ rules just saying at least
ms$ maks my stuff works!

but about your sound probs.....i wish i knew that cause i have the same thing......oh did i say that linux would crash faster then 98se!
