OK, completely lost on this one. The onboard controller (at least the BIOS states) is the AC'97 audio chip. The driver CD loads the SoundMax AD1980/AD1888 Audio Driver version 5.12.1.5290 along with some SoundMax applications. As far as XP is concerned everything is fine and reports no conflicts in the DM. However whenever I try to play anything at all I get no output from the card itself. I have checked and double-checked all of the volume settings, made sure mute wasn't turned on anywhere, etc. Yet whether it's speakers or headphones I get nothing. I have started a song and then opened the SoundMax control panel and actually seen the spectrum analyzer showing output and still nothing.

What is going on?

No. I am a dork. The front panel audio pins were completely un-jumpered because I had originally intended this to be my wifes computer and her case had a real nice FPA plug that I had connected to the MB. When I did that I took the jumpers off the pins and had forgotten all about it when I put the board into my case. So the lesson we learn from this story is that if you don't plan on using your FPA for anything be sure and leave the pins jumpered because when they are left completely in the open position it essentially disables the rear panel plugs.

Thanks.
