No sound/music in Farcry

I have been playing the game non stop for 3 days nows with no problems, everything is smooth at high detail levels, with dolby 5.1 sound...but as of this morning...The game no longer has any sound. No gunshots, no music, no voices...nothing...

I read on some tech sites that lots of people have this problem when using the nforce onboard audio, but no one has a solution...

I have even tried to reinstall and update all drivers...nothing... I am kinda confuesed why it just stopped working, I didn't even try to change settings...

If anyone might have some suggestions...feel free...

I really hate to ask this, but you didnt state it in the original post. You do have the speakers turned on (light on?) and the sound up? You are getting sound in all other apps including windows, correct? I have an nForce2 mobo and have never hand any issues with FC.

Yeah i should have stated it in the post...no offense taken...

Yes speakers are on, all other apps and games work, and i can listen to music just fine...
I was never having problems either, just happened out of the blue today...

perhaps something changed your sound-output options - to digital only or something like that? - though I see that other apps work just fine.....hmm....not sure...I'll check with some of my Far Cry buddies...

Did you try reinstalling the game? Yeah, I know it's a pain with all those CDs, but give it a try if you haven't already. And yes, I have heard a lot of people complaining about this, not just with a specific mobo. I think it's a problem in the game, because people have experienced it over a wide array of hardware. I myself, have noticed it numerous times in the game.

Maybe the upcoming patch will fix this (it's supposed to be released today).

Is the game patched to 1.1 (or 1.2 when it's available)?

Also does your sound still work in other games? Try running dxdiag and running the sound tests.
